Price or Prize of Being A Gentleman

Last week, after my shift, I was obliged to visit a friend somewhere in Makati (financial district of Philippines) and I must say that I’m simply glad that I don’t work there. The rush of people, usual traffics (legged and wheeled), too expensive price of candies, food, smog? and top-up credits. Ok, I’ll stop complaining the obvious.

This post is not meant for complains but merely for my personal observation only. I decided to go there in the morning. The rush of people is around 7-9 AM and falling in line is common at that place. Particularly, when you need to use the public transportation. I decided to use MRT (Metropolitan Rail Transit) for faster travel. But getting tickets you must either use the stairs or use the elevator. So, I decided to use the elevator because I realized I’m too exhausted to climb the 2-3 storey stairs. So, before you raise your left/right eye brow and tell me that I’m too lazy or lame for using the elevator; you have to know that I just went off my shift, travelled at least 30-45 minutes (which supposedly should only take 15 minutes) with several stops to get there and not having my breakfast yet. So, blame me for not using the stairs and let fat people use the elevators.

Sigh! Are we done? Lol

Going back to my story, I head straight to elevator and again, another line; so I fall in line. As we wait in line for the elevator’s door to open, I saw a guy waiting and just ahead of me probably 6-7 persons ahead. He was very close (but not in front) to the door of elevator. As soon as the door comes open, “as a gentleman” he let the 2 ladies behind him stepped in first. Which is good right? But, he intentionally skips the third and fourth ladies. Then, I started to wonder…why? What the?!

It’s obvious that he can still let the 2 ladies in but why he’d skipped and instead stepped inside? And believe me it’s not about the space inside for him to worry about. Then, I’d finally noticed, these guy is a “false gentleman”…why? Because the first 2 ladies are obviously eye candies and I bet that was his real reason he did that, just to impress/hit them (or only one of them). I’m also sure that this guy doesn’t know the first 2 ladies and I will definitely give my whole salary to prove that this guy is just show-off to these first 2 ladies. I don’t know why I decided to write about this? Maybe because it was a frustrating, funny and stupid to see this guy being a “gentleman” with conditions like that.

I guess it is really human nature to make things uneven/imbalanced especially in law of attraction. We all know that being a “genetically” or “scientifically” gorgeous Homo sapiens will have advantages in society we live in and how we play the game. But, in situation like this, I sincerely pity the 2 ladies who were not too catchy to the eye of our false gentleman.

So, with yours truly, I let them first. Why? Because they were already ahead of me; so basically I have no choice but to let them stepped in first. Lol

And, here is really something funny I let the lady who was at my back to get in first and soon as I stepped in…the elevator message lit up and displayed a message “Full”.What the?!

I just chuckled and stepped out of the door and looked at everyone inside with a smile as the door closes. It was really an awkward moment for me but very interesting observation as well. I know sometimes the price/prize of being a gentleman have its ups and downs…sadly for me, I got the down one which honestly I don’t mind or complain about. I still managed to get on time because lucky enough…my friend was late. Lol

Anyways, just sharing funny observation that some part of our society/nature tend to change/take advantage of these gestures.

**Disclaimer..again** (Remind me to remove this in my future posts)

I got confused with the title (PRIZE/PRICE) because both words I believed were appropriate to what I want to say. But, your forgiveness and understanding is a MUST if you still want to continue reading my future posts. Lol

Enjoy life and find happiness!
